Paradigm Counsel, an innovative law firm with cutting-edge clients in Silicon Valley and beyond, is looking for a mid- or senior-level associate to deliver high-quality work product on technology transactions and IP and open source counseling.
We value our collegial working environment. We are professional while not taking ourselves too seriously. We value diversity of experience and thought. We are uniquely focused on being involved in the day-to-day lives of early-stage startups and emerging growth companies. And we care about providing an environment where everyone feels safe communicating what will help them flourish personally and professionally.
You must be detail-oriented and have strong written and verbal communication skills. You must be able to collaborate and build relationships. You also need a basic understanding of technology and a business orientation.
Experience should include in-depth work on a range of commercial and technology licensing agreements, including hosted services, software license and support agreements, supply agreements, distribution channel agreements, marketing agreements, and development and outsourced services agreements. Understanding of contract law, open source licensing and intellectual property concepts are important.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 to 8 years of technology transactions experience at an Am Law 200 firm or other premier technology transactions practice. Privacy and in house experience is a plus.
Paradigm Counsel was formed in 2008 by former Big Law attorneys who realized that the Big Law model was unsustainable for many clients and the lawyers and paralegals. Working at Paradigm offers the opportunity to do sophisticated, cutting-edge work for startups and emerging growth companies and investors in a full-time position. At the same time, Paradigm provides more flexible work arrangements and reduced hours targets compared to large firms, while offering a competitive salary, benefits, bonuses and the ability to build and profit from your own practice at a much earlier stage in your career than other firms with the same industry focus.
We offer a competitive starting salary and a comprehensive benefits package, along with opportunity for growth. We are an equal opportunity employer encouraging diversity in the workplace. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, national origin, gender, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation, veteran status, marital status or any other characteristics protected by law.
The candidate must be admitted to practice law in California.
